Groenhof Design & procurement has played a leading role in many prestigious projects and been responsible for project management, documentation, FF&E specification and implementation of large projects, both in the interior design and procurement field around South Africa.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Design evolves through team participation. What I love / have loved about all the projects I have worked on is the spirit of team work, conceptualizing, realizing the big idea and then driving it home to the finish line.

It takes long hours of hard work and dedication but so very exciting and worth it…those late night hysterics on my own or with colleagues definitely helped get me through.

PROCUREMENT

Crossing your t’s & Dotting your i’s …. In 1996-1997 pre computers all of the our design purchasing work was done by hand on spreadsheets it was then that I really learned the procurement ropes; the detail in design back then was rather over the top what with all the braids, tassels, hand painted detailing so everything had to be documented correctly, presented for approval, changed, and then rewritten onto order sheets. Information needed to be portrayed perfectly to manufacturers and suppliers to ensure no mistakes as mistakes cost money. This is the philosophy I have taken forward in projects and in my own business.
For the larger projects, I think it is imperative to appoint a procurement agent that is dedicated to the purchasing aspect of a project. As every developer appoints an architect or interior design consultant so is it necessary to appoint a team dedicated to the purchasing of furnishings and operational equipment. Saving you money and putting you the client first.

CERAMICS

Like Design it evolves …Out of a coil it erupts into something that comes from within.
I have been doing Ceramics as a hobby for many years and absolutely love it.
Started at school and then as an adult student with Sharon Albert making various coiled terracotta vases and vessels with texture, colour and different glazes. More recently I have done classes with Jo Pentz working with white/off white clays as well as paper clay which has got the most incredible strength.
I would like to do more ceramics and possibly some commissions for interior projects…
